Steve Hoselitz makes functional, decorative hand-thrown stoneware pots from his ceramic studio near Usk.
His work is suitable for the home as dispay pieces and for practical use.
The main influences of his work have been the pottery of ancient China and Japan, and the early 20th Century craft potters of Britain.
He uses white slip as a decorative device and colours his work with oxides and under a transparent glaze. He also uses, red and light grey-green (celadon) glazes.
He has been making pots since he learnt the basics at school where he was lucky to have an inspirational teacher. Later he was helped and encouraged by college lecturers and to other South Wales potters.
His work is to be found in exhibitions in the region and can also be seen at his studio, by appointment. He also take on commissions.
