Fair Trade

Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices (which must never fall lower than the market price), Fairtrade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers. It enables them to improve their position and have more control over their lives.

We are led by a steering group of local people and organisations who represent many sections of the Brecon community. We always welcome new members, both to the steering group and as affiliate members who are kept informed of our work and events.

The Fairtrade Brecon Inititative is a group of local people who aim to :
promote the concept of Fairtrade
raise awareness of the FAIRTRADE Mark among businesses, retailers, employers and the general public of Brecon
increase sales of Fairtrade produce in Brecon
maintain and build on Brecon's status as a Fairtrade Town
