Cawl and Cake Trail 2013

Who will be the Champion Chef in our inaugural Llandovery Sheep Festival Cawl and Cake Trail?

Let battle commence as the town’s chefs cook up their secret recipes to produce the perfect Cawl – the traditional Welsh broth that has everyone declaring that theirs is the best recipe, handed down the generations. Is it as good as Mamgu (Grandma) used to make?

Who will bake the most moreish morsels in the Cake competition? It’s up to you to decide! Will it be a wonderful Welsh cake, a gorgeous gateau, or a crazy cupcake?

Off You Go!
Take a walk around town and sample the delights of our cafes, pubs and restaurants – your £3 ticket (this voting sheet) covers one bite-size taster of the provided Cawl and/or cake for one person, in each of the participating eateries. Follow the map to find them, and don’t forget your score for each Cawl or cake, so that you can vote for your favourite at the end of the day. Show this sheet at the eatery to receive your sample and mark off on the sheet to show you’ve visited that establishment. It’s important you only take one sample at each place, to ensure everyone can enjoy the trail.

Participants are:

The Drovers B&B
Just So Scrumptious
Tudor's Cafe
Corner Shop Cafe
Owl's Nest Tea Room and Diner
Genesis
The Castle Hotel
The Blue Bell Inn

We are most grateful to all the participating eateries for taking part in this fun event. Please respect their staff and other customers at all times and only take a seat if you plan to purchase food or drink. Please do not ask for alternative tasters.

Dietary note: Cawl is traditionally made with meat, so the Cawl trail is not suitable for vegetarians. Cakes may contain nuts – if you have food allergies or intolerances, please check ingredients with the individual eateries.
