Cefn Hengoed Ladies' Choir was founded in 1947, and to celebrate their 65th Anniversary, held a Gala Concert accompanied by a chamber orchestra in a performance of Vivalds Gloria and other works, at Lewis Girls School. A founder member of the Welsh Association of Ladies Choirs, Cefn Hengoed Ladies Choir is one of the longest running choirs in South Wales. The Choir is proud of its past, and is looking forward to an even brighter future.
Our music is of many styles, languages and genres, and is constantly being updated. We are always very busy learning new repertoire and re-learning old favorites.
We are a three-part choir from a variety of backgrounds; those who read music, and those who dont, in education, employed and retired. We are inter-generational, with several grandmother/mother/daughter pairs and a very wide age range - currently 12 - 87 years!
At Proms in the Park, we performed to 4,000 people and we were thrilled to be invited to sing at the Palace of Westminster. We perform regularly in chapels, churches, weddings, schools and community events and have premiered new work. We enjoy collaborating with guest artistes and other choirs. We are always delighted to welcome new members.
Rehearsals are every Thursday during term time from 7pm - 9pm at Derwendeg Primary School, Cefn Hengoed.
No audition required, just a love of singing!
