You will be able to travel through time and discover the home of Welsh castle life, from medieval times to the twentieth century.The castle was developed as a fortress by Royal hands in the Middle Ages and restored as aVictorian family home.The river Nedern winds its way through the park and the wildlife pond is home
to a variety of wildfowl.

Explore the medieval towers and take in the breath-taking views of the parklands and surrounding area from the battlements. You can sit aside the 12 poundermuzzle-loading HMS Foudroyant’s Cannon in our Courtyard. Come and unravel the mysteries of the dark chilling castle dungeon. Caldicot Castle is reputed to be haunted by a number of ghosts. Who will you see before you leave?

Events

The Castle and Country Park hosts a busy events programme throughout the year. These include re-enactment events from various periods in history. A variety of festivals, local community events and family fun days. See our website for our up to date programme. Children’s activities are available daily including treasure trails and make‘n’take sessions during school holidays.

Weddings & Banquets

Caldicot Castle is a unique venue for your special occasion. The grounds and Castle make the perfect backdrop for your wonderful day. We are licenced to hold civil ceremonies in our Castle Gatehouse for up to 100 guests. We can tailor make your day to suit your requirements and budget. All of your needs can be catered for. How about a vintage tea party, medieval banquet or reception in a marquee, yurt or tipi for up to 500 people?

On occasions it may be necessary to vary our opening times as a result of a special event or a private booking. Parts of the country park may be closed during some events. On large event days free additional parking is provided off site, follow the directional signs.
