Scrambles are graded from 1 to 3 with 1 being the easiest. A grade 1 will usually require very little or no additional equipment and may be a series of short rocky steps - Grib Goch ridge on Snowdon is a classic example. There are 2 main types of canoe the Canadian canoe based on the Red Indian canoe of North America which is an open boat usually paddled by 2 people with single bladed paddles. The other is the Kayak or Eskimo canoe which has an enclosed hull with one or 2 cockpits to sit in. Its paddled with a double bladed paddle.
