Old Stables Cottage is situated in a very peaceful position on the lovely Glentrothy Estate near Abergavenny. Backing onto an ancient bluebell wood, this stylish single storey cottage lies in a little wooded valley. The country estate has streams, copses, specimen trees, thousands of bulbs and quiet fields with peacefully grazing horses and sheep. This is the perfect cottage for a reviving escape, with lovely local walks and plenty of good restaurants nearby. Both Offa's Dyke path and the famous Walnut Tree Inn are close, and the lovely old market towns of Abergavenny and Monmouth are both about eight miles away. Sleeps a couple (plus a baby).

Old Stables Cottage was, as its name suggests, a former stable building for the estate, so that the stable doors opening out from the kitchen and the bedroom give a nod to its origins. Generous French doors lead outside from the sitting-room, lending a real feel of indoor/outdoor living in the summer, with a table and chairs right outside to take advantage of the all-day sunshine. In the winter, snuggle up in front of the wood burner and enjoy the stylish and comfortably furnished cottage (the log supply can be replenished from the huge pile in the old Dutch Barn opposite the cottage). Lovely antiques and fabrics, generous sofas, oriental and sporting pictures all give an extra dimension to this simple building. It comes as no surprise that one of the owners is a well-travelled interior decorator.

Old Stables Cottage comprises a kitchen, with a little drop-leaf table for eating at, a shower room with loo and wash hand basin, a comfortable sitting-room with two sofas, and a generously proportioned bedroom with a fabulous bed and big antique wardrobe.

As this is a working estate, there may be the occasional agricultural or estate activity in the vicinity during working hours.
