The Swan at Hay Hotel

The Swan at Hay is a privately owned hotel and restaurant in the Marches town of Hay-on-Wye where warm hospitality and good food await you. As a former coaching inn, the hotel is full of character, from the original Georgian windows overlooking the garden, to the cobbled stable block to the rear.

The bedrooms are full of charm and character, and are all different in shape and size. Some have views of the beautiful garden, while others have period features. All rooms are decorated to the same standard, with en-suite bathrooms and their Gilchrist & Soames toiletries, flatscreen TVs, DVD players and generous tea tray.

A delicious full Welsh breakfast is served between 8:00am and 9:30am in the dining room. Everything is locally sourced, except the Kellogg's cereals!

The hotel also has a garden ideal for summer al fresco dining. We have created a traditional British menu with favourites including pan-seared scallops with sunblushed tomatoes and orange sauce; duck breast served with herb mash and chorizo cassoulet; and classic Eton mess with crushed meringue, Chantilly cream and raspberries.

We are fortunate enough to live in an area providing some of the finest food and ingredients available in the United Kingdom. Our aim is to create dishes where at least 80% of the ingredients are from a local source. A typical menu will include Herefordshire beef and Welsh Marches lamb served alongside fruit and vegetables from the gardens and orchards of the Wye Valley.

Meetings
The Swan at Hay is an ideal venue for small and medium-sized conferences and business meetings. In recent years, the hotel has gained an excellent reputation for hosting management training workshops, team building events and company parties. It is the perfect location for a meeting, as it is in wonderfully quiet countryside, yet is within easy reach of main motorway networks (M4 and M5).

Alongside our spacious meeting rooms, all of which have plenty of natural daylight, there are several lounges and break-out areas for informal meetings. In summer months, the garden is an ideal place to use as well.

It is also moments away from The Wye Valley, an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’. Rarely will you be spoilt for choice with such wonderful walks, all with breathtaking scenery. We work closely with several local activity companies that we would be happy to liaise with to help you get the most from your time away.
